Carol Shaw

Aurora, Utah - Carol Wayne Shaw passed away peacefully with his son by his side on July 21, 2010 in Glenwood, Utah, at the age of 86. He was born January 18, 1925, in Aurora, Utah, a son of William Hartley and Mary Jeanette Harding Shaw. Carol married Arva Simpson, December 7, 1946 in Gunnison, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, July 20, 1957. She died November 20, 2008. Carol was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who was know for his large, beautiful garden and yard. He was an artist who enjoyed sketching and woodworking. Carol was a talented mechanic, and enjoyed spending time in his shop, building, fixing and inventing things. He worked for the Georgia Pacific Gypsum plant in Sigurd, Utah for over 40 years, before retiring in 1989. Carol was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in all the auxiliaries. He and his wife, Arva, served as missionaries at the LDS Church Storehouse for 12 years. He is survived by his son, Mike and Joanne Shaw of Aurora; three grandchildren: Jamie Shaw, Nicole and Travis Christiansen, Jason and Jerica Shaw; two great-grandchildren: Maggie Jo Christiansen and Trace Christiansen; three sisters: Lois Jones of Salt Lake City, Roa Mason and Fonda Kennedy, both of Aurora. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his six siblings: Utahna Ainsworth, Etha Hansen, Deon Taylor, Vern Shaw, Leo Shaw and Gail Shaw. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 26, 2010 at 12 Noon in the Aurora 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 85 North Main Street in Aurora, where friends may call for viewing Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Monday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
