Salina, Utah - Carol Sorensen Steele, age 80, of Salina, passed away on May 2, 2015 at her son’s home in American Fork, Utah. She was born December 25, 1934 in Salina, Utah, a daughter of James H. and Ardeth Curtis Sorensen. She lived a vibrant childhood. She was avid swimmer, tennis player, cheerleader and expressed her love of music through the violin. Her sparkling charm and animated personality enchanted all those around her. Carol graduated from North Sevier High School, Class of 1953, before marrying her sweetheart Robert Frank Steele on November 27th of the same year. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on May 5, 1979. Together they raised their two children, Connie Sue Steele and John Robert Steele in Salina, where they made many lasting friends. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served her community as a church librarian for many years. Her employment at Paulette's Smart Shop brought her years of joy and enduring memories. She delighted in painting and had a great love for the outdoors. Carol was also known for her passion for gardening. She loved to listen to the birds as she planted flowers in the springtime, illuminating her yard with color and beauty. Carol was and is an inspiration to all of her family, she touched their lives for the better, and her example and legacy of love will continue to live through them all. Carol is survived by her children: Connie S. Peterson of Salina; John and Clary Steele of American Fork; her sister June Berger of Arvada, Colorado; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, one nephew, and one great niece. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Salina Eastside Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 east Main Street in Salina, Saturday from 12 Noon to 1:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
