Carroll Luanna Anderson Benson, age 79, of Sedona, Arizona, died January 8, 2007 in Sedona. She was born December 14, 1927 in Richfield, Utah, a daughter of Oscar and Quma Lavina Larson Anderson. She spent her childhood days in Richfield, with pigtails, freckles and afternoons at the movies. During her high school years and nurses training at Holy Cross Hospital, Carroll lived in Salt Lake City, where she met and married Dr. Grant Lee Benson, Jr. of Rexburg, Idaho. Her years of marriage and raising her family were spent in Newport Beach, California. In 1983, Carroll was drawn to Sedona, Arizona. There she enjoyed her hobbies of knitting, gardening and glasswork. She loved sunshine, flowers and all things beautiful, especially people with what she called “big hearts”. After a 20 year battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully at her home in Sedona. Carroll is survived by her her son, William A. and Carol Rae Benson of Cottonwood, Arizona; her daughters, Elizabeth Carol and Eric G. Holmgren of Sitka, Alaska; Katherine Lee and Hans Jorgen Beckstrom of Port Orchard Washington; 5 grandchildren: Nathan Lloyd Knutson, Ben Holmgren, Katie Holmgren, Tamara Ann French and Amanda Lee Benson, deceased; her brothers: John B. Anderson of Salt Lake City and Sherman O. and Marlene Anderson of Sandy, Utah; and her sister, Sally and Pete (Ted) Whiting of Billings, Montana. Please join us in the celebration and memory of her life and love on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the Richfield City Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Richfield Rotary Park, where we can visit and renew old acquaintances. All friend and family are welcome and rooms are available at Comfort Inn 435-896-0119.
