Carroll J. Mellor

Fayette, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, neighbor and friend, Carroll James Mellor, passed away July 30, 2008 in Mayfield, Utah, after a long struggle with complications of Alzheimers Disease. He was born June 13, 1926 in Fayette, Utah, a son of Leon Amasa and Bonnie Hill Mellor. He lived in Fayette his entire life except for a few years in the Salt Lake City area. He graduated from Gunnison Valley High School, Class of 1944 and joined the US Army shortly thereafter to fight in WWII. He was 17 years old. He went to the Philippines with the 795th Infantry and was headed for Japan when the War ended in 1946. Carroll married Rene Peterson April 2, 1947 in the Manti LDS Temple. They had a son, Kendall and daughter, Suzanne. Rene died February 14, 1969. He married D’Ann Dolan February 21, 1970 in the Manti LDS Temple and they had two sons, Corey James Mellor in 1972 and Kerry Dolan Mellor in 1974. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Rene Peterson; a son, Kendall Mellor; his daughter, Suzanne Mugnolo; grandson, Trevor Sorenson; brothers, Calvert and Ira Mellor; sisters: Faun Ord and Barbara Nielson. He is survived by his wife, D’Ann; sons: Corey and Wendy Mellor; Kerry and Jammie Mellor; step-son: Lee Hall; son-in-law: Richard Mugnolo; four grandchildren: Tony Mugnolo, Justin Mellor, Carson (CJ) Mellor and Richae Mellor; two great-grandchildren: Clay Mellor and KaLeah Mellor. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. in the Fayette LDS Ward Chapel where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday afternoon from 1:30 to 2:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Manti 145th Field Artillery Unit of the Utah National Guard will be in the Fayette Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
