Aurora, Utah - Cecil H. Sorenson, age 82, our kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, died June 11, 2006 at his home in Aurora. He was born March 6, 1924 in Salina, Utah, a son of William and Wilmoth Harding Sorenson. He graduated from North Sevier High School, Class of 1942. He served in the US Marines during World War II. Cecil married Jean Marie Okerlund, May 27, 1948 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple June 16, 1967. She died June 1, 2001. He married Leora Simpson Peterson, May 3, 2003 in the Manti LDS Temple. Cecil was an active member of the LDS Church, where he was a High Priest. He served a church employment mission at the Bishop’s Storehouse. Cecil started the Sevier County Mounted Posse and served as Aurora City Marshall. He retired after working for the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department. Cecil enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Leora, of Aurora; children: Kerry William and Karen Sorenson, Kim J. and Verna Sorenson, all of Aurora; Cherlyn and Will Taylor of Fremont; step-children: SusAnn and Chad Beach, Loretta Quarnberg, all of Salina; 26 grandchildren; 37 grea-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Shirley and Roger Sorensen of Salt Lake City; Kendall and Virginia Sorenson of Aurora; Gary and Phyllis Sorenson of Tremonton; Kay Coggins of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his first wife; two step-children: Gay and Paul Ivie; Eugene Milton Peterson; and a sister, Dawna (Dawntie) Montgomery. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in the Aurora 1st LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M or at the ward chapel in Aurora Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and Honor Guard by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
