Richfield, Utah - Cecil John Hunt, age 84, passed away peacefully February 24, 2025, at his home in Richfield. He was born October 6, 1940, in Sulphurdale, Utah, to John Donald and Marvel Utley Hunt. He was raised in Sevier and graduated from South Sevier High School, Class of 1958.

On November 24, 1960, he married Annette Hatch in Richfield. He supported his family as an industrial mechanic at Georgia Pacific Gypsum in Sigurd for 42 years.

Cecil was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time in nature, especially hunting and fishing with his family.

He will be remembered for his quick wit, relentless teasing, hunting prowess, and untold knowledge of secret fishing holes. His love for the great outdoors was evident in every trip he took, whether it was casting a line in a float tube, or tracking game through the forest. He taught us the value of integrity, service, hard work and determination. The stories of his adventures will live on in our hearts, and every time we step into the great outdoors, we’ll feel his presence beside us. His love language was harassment, if you were teased, you were loved. Cecil’s garden was legendary, always immaculate and plenty to share.

Cecil was a proud Grandpa of 12 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Grandpa's greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren. Even on his darkest days, they brought a brightness. He loved the branches of his family tree fiercely.

He is survived by his sweetheart, Annette, of Richfield; their four children: Emily Heins of Monroe; John (Shelly) Hunt of Vernal; Kelly (Tami) Hunt of Glenwood; Angie (Todd) Blomquist of Monroe; his siblings: Patricia (David) Simonsen of Richfield; and MaryAnn (Kirby) Parker of Joseph.

He is preceded in death by his parents: John Donald and Marvel Utley Hunt; siblings: Gerald (Jean) Hunt, Vonda (Gene) Julander, Betty (Quinn) Christensen, Ila Dean (Dale) Huntsman, Nedra (Thad) Nielson; sons-in-laws: Rick Nielson and Tim Heins; four great grandchildren; and beloved four-legged pals: Sparks, Freckles and Daisy.
