Celia Pickett Jensen

September 30, 1915 — July 15, 2017

Gunnison, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Celia Pickett Jensen, age 101, of Gunnison, passed away July 15, 2017 in Kaysville, Utah. She was born September 30, 1915 in Gunnison, a daughter of John Earl and Lettie LaVern Stevens Pickett. She graduated from Gunnison Valley High school, Class of 1933. She then attended Snow College in Ephraim and Holy Cross School of Nursing. She married Miles Herbert Jensen, December 13, 1940 in the Manti LDS Temple. He died November 9, 2009. Celia was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in all the organizations. She served a full time Mission to Nigeria from 1980 to 1981, with her husband Miles. She was a member and officer in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed traveling and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Celia is survived by her children: Elizabeth Jensen of Gunnison, currently serving a Mission in San Diego, California; Carma and Gary Sagers of Salt Lake City; Jeraldene (Paul, deceased) Swalberg of Pleasant Grove; Janet and Dick Baldwin of Farmington; Gordon and Linda Jensen of Brigham City; Herbert and Vicki Jensen of Herriman; numerous foster children; 18 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister: Edith Tripp of Monroe. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, 80 West Center in Gunnison, where friends may call for viewing Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
