Charles Arthur Torgerson

Charles Arthur Torgerson “Charlie Tuna” 1939-2003 Bicknell, Utah - Charlie Tuna, age 63, passed away February 4, 2003 at his home in Bicknell after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 12, 1939 in Bicknell, a son of Arthur Henry and Alice Luella Knighton Torgerson. He married Connie Williams, July 16, 1963 in Ferron, Utah. They were later divorced. Charlie loved the mountains and bestowed that love and pride into his three sons. Most of his years were spent in the timber business, logging on Boulder Mountain and operating the sawmill in Bicknell. Tuna was a lifetime member of the Wayne County Jeep Posse and served many years as a volunteer fireman in Bicknell and was one of the earliest EMT members in Wayne County. He was on the Bicknell Town Council and donated many hours and equipment for town clean-ups and improvements. He was also a generous supporter of many organizations and youth activities. He will be dearly missed and always remembered as a wonderful man, by his family and friends. He is survived by Connie W. Torgerson of St. George; sons: Kim Charles and Sharon Torgerson, John A. and Angela Torgerson, Ryan W. and Penni Torgerson, all of Bicknell. He was the proud Grandpa to Chantel, McKay, Josie and Ruger and an unborn grandson. Also survived by two brothers and one sister: Larry K. and Libbie Torgerson, Bicknell; Phil K. Torgerson, Denver, Colorado, Carol Charlesworth, Salina. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Lael T. Hales and Myra T. Gish. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. in the Thurber LDS Ward Chapel in Bicknell. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West, in Richfield, Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and at the ward chapel in Bicknell, Saturday from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Bicknell Cemetery.
