Charles O. Black

October 26, 1944 — January 1, 2023

Aurora, Utah - Charles Orin Black, age 78,  passed away in Richfield, Utah on January 1, 2023. He was born October 26, 1944, in Salina Utah to Douglas Hansen and Velma Jensen Black. Charlie grew up in Redmond Utah.  He drove a 1953 Chevrolet car that he had painted red and you could hear him coming for miles.

He married his sweetheart Madge B Kennedy on August 7, 1965, in Aurora. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on September 26, 1970. They spent 56 years together before she passed away March 20, 2022.

Charlie was a great friend, neighbor, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and a patient father of five beautiful daughters.

Dad was a hard worker. He left school as a Junior to go to work. He hauled hay for some time and also worked at the turkey plant. He worked for Boyd Anderson in Delta preparing the road to the IPP power plant. He also worked in Hanksville hauling gravel for the mine roads. In 1982 he started driving for Robinson Transport, where he acquired the handles of Chugger and Reveren. These stuck with him throughout the years.

During his off time he loved any and all episodes of Hee Haw, and he enjoyed listening to Paul Harvey. He liked to hunt and sketch. On Saturdays when we were all doing our chores he would sing “hey good lookin what ya got cookin” to Mom.

His favorite place to eat was Chuck A Rama, although he never went for any fancy desserts, Rice Krispie treats were his favorite.

Dad was a very funny man. When we lived in the house with the canal behind it he referred to it as his “beach front” property. We will miss him dearly.

Charles is survived by his daughters: Kimberly (Lane) Barney, Danelle (Jason) Peterson, Rachelle Black, Melissa (Mark) Sears and Meagan (Fernie) Black; 12 grandchildren. 9 great grandchildren, and two more on the way; his smart little dog, Velcro; and a brother: Roger Black (Jackie).

He is preceded in death by his Wife Madge; his Parents; two brothers: Robert Norman Black and Stanley Mead Black and a sister, Elvina Lou Hall.
