Christopher Jon McClellan was a doggies man, a passionate player and watcher of golf, a NASCAR fan, and an unabashedly fervent homebody, loving nothing more than being at home with his Babe and his dogs. Boy Chris and Girl Chris made the move to Payson when they bought their first house this past winter. Chris was thrilled to be a homeowner and was even more thrilled to have a house with a finished apartment in the basement so his best friends could live close by, but not too close. Chris was a journeyman electrician and was thrilled when Austin and Bryce both decided to follow in his footsteps. He was even more excited when they were all employed by Robertson Electric and were able to go to work together daily. They would take time away to go golfing and fishing. Born, January 26, 1968, in Salt Lake City to Larry John McClellan and Sally Sandberg McClellan. He was a child of the 80s; loving hard rock, loud music, fast cars, and girls with big hair. His first car was an El Camino, which he drove when his family relocated to St. George, with a deer head and the family dog as passengers; it was quite the sight to behold. He later traded that for a 1970s Chevelle, which he loved. Chris met Jodi Stewman, and they produced the amazing, resilient child, Cade Larry John McClellan in 1988. He and Jodi later divorced, and that provided the opportunity for Chris to meet Christine (Chris) Marie Houchen, the love of his life. They married on January 24, 1991, in St. George, Utah. This union created two delightfully wonderful sons, Austin Christopher McClellan and Bryce Carl McClellan. All three young men have their father's gift of gab! People have said that Chris never met someone that was not his friend because he could talk to anyone about anything. Some would say that he was full of piss 'n' vinegar, while others could accuse him of being a tease; just ask his sister. Chris was all of that and more. He was very intelligent and articulate, having a noggin full of trivia, facts, and figures. In his youth, Chris loved reading the Guinness Book of World Records and would often spout facts from there when they correlated with something in his life. Chris was a master of cooking and barbequing, particularly meat. One caveat, don't add onions to anything! He would go to great lengths to avoid them, even reading ingredients to see if the makers were trying to sneak onions into something he might feel like partaking of. He was so picky growing up that one birthday his grandparents gave him a case of Franco-American spaghetti because that, tacos, hamburgers, and steak were his go-to foods! Chris, AKA "Pops" will be missed by many people as he passed away on May 4, 2019, at the age of 51 years, in an auto accident in Nephi, Utah. He left behind his wife of 28 years, Christine (Chris) Marie Houchen McClellan, his three sons; Cade Larry John McClellan [Erinn], Austin Christoper McClellan [Jess], and Bryce Carl McClellan. Chris and Chris have three beautiful grandchildren; Evangeline, Lucas, and Katherine. Chris was predeceased by his father Larry McClellan, father-in-law Charles (Chuck) Houchen, and his grandparents; Carl and Dona Sandberg and John and Gayle McClellan. He is survived by his mother, Sally McClellan; step-father, Nial McClellan; sister, Michelle McClellan-Truman, her two daughters Aubrey and Tayler, his in-laws Sandy and Les Bears, Brad Houchen, Janice (Jan) Marion Peirce, Cindy Lee Ballantyne, and Jeffrey Charles Houchen.
