Chuck Coons

January 5, 1935 — March 12, 2008

Monroe, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Charles Francis “Chuck” Coons, age 73, of Monroe, died March 12, 2008 in Richfield, Utah. He was born January 5, 1935 in Naples, New York, a son of Walter Melville and Mabel Davis Coons. He married Barbara Ballew in 1959 in Jackson, Wyoming. They were later divorced. He married Betty Jean Bowlsby April 11, 1965 in Jackson, Wyoming. Chuck graduated from Naples High School in Naples, New York in 1952. He served in the United States Army for a short period. Chuck was a member of the Richfield Assembly of God Church, where he taught Sunday School, served on the Advisory Council and was actively involved in the the BGMC Program. He was active in the men’s group and helped with yard maintenance. He played the harmonica and he greatly loved and appreciated all the church members. He enjoyed fishing, rock hunting, bottle hunting and reading about aviation. He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Monroe; children: Joe and Nadine Taylor of Hilo, Hawaii; Danny Coons of Jackson, Wyoming; Connie Hurley of Cedar City; Woody Coons of Draper; Victoria and Shane Ames of Elsinore; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Warren Coons of Florida; Nora Johnston of Georgia; Wilbur Coons, Kathleen Coons, Carolyn Perry and Lyle Coons, all of New York. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Linn Taylor; two sisters: Janava Hull and Bess Clark and two nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 12 Noon in the Richfield Assembly of God Church, 110 North 300 East in Richfield. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the church Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
