Claire Kotter Johnson

Salina, Utah - Ada Claire Kotter Johnson, age 85, passed away in Highland, Utah, Nov. 9, 2020, with her loved ones close by. She was born Jan. 26, 1935, in Elsinore, Utah, a daughter of Henry John and Clara Ramsay Kotter. She grew up in Elsinore surrounded by her large family. She attended the old rock schoolhouse in Elsinore and graduated from South Sevier High School in 1953. Claire married Robert (Bob) Hugh Johnson, June 6, 1958, in the Manti LDS Temple. He passed away Feb. 25, 2010. Bob and Claire moved to Salina in 1963, where Bob taught at North Sevier High School. Claire was a homemaker, but also had a very successful daycare business for many, many years. Claire was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and held many callings over the years. One of her favorite callings was that of gospel doctrine teacher which she held for 14 years. She was also an ordinance worker at the Manti LDS temple. She is survived by three children: Valerie Turek (Jeff), Jeff (Teri), and Joe (Karen); 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Gilman Kotter; two sister-in-law: Mavis Kotter and Joan Kotter. Claire is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; her son, Mitch; her grandson, Jordan Johnson; and eight brothers and sisters: Madge Bishop, Garth Gray, Roma Jensen, Evelyn Kotter, James Kotter, Marilynn Zuzek, Ralph Kotter, and John B. Kotter. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 12 Noon in the Elsinore Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street, in Salina, Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. prior to the services. Due to COVID-19 mandates, attendees will be required to wear a mask and keep social distancing. Burial will be in the Elsinore Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
