Clarence P. Garrick

Salina, Utah - Clarence Proctor Garrick, age 89, died at his home in Salina after a lingering illness on January 23, 2016. He was born May 15, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah a son of Clarence Alexander and Elizabeth Proctor Garrick. He graduated from South High School, Class of 1943. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He married Ruth Davis, August 11, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He and his brother, Richard, owned and operated Holladay Glass until he started his own business, Red Garrick Glass. Red was always honest and fair in his dealings. Red was a jack of all trades and enjoyed raising and showing his prize rabbits. Upon his retirement, he built his home and farm in Salina, where he enjoyed raising many farm animals. As a craftsman, he built many fine pieces of furniture for the home. Red was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a Temple Worker in the Salt Lake, Jordan River and Manti Temples. He also served as Scout Master and as a counselor in the High Priest Quorum. He will be remembered for the love, respect and life lessons he shared with those he came in contact with. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ruth Garrick; sons: Clifford Davis and LaNett Garrick; Clark Davis Garrick and Calvin Davis Garrick; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister: Beth and Jan Harbrink. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wanda Dennis; a brother, Richard Proctor Garrick and two sons: Clarence D. "Larry" Garrick and Clayton Davis Garrick. As requested by Red, no funeral service will be held. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street, in Salina, Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. Grave side services with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Pioneer Cemetery on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 12 Noon under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
