Lyman, Utah - Clayton Ross Chappell, age 59, died January 29, 2006 in Springville, Utah. He was born September 3, 1946 in Salina, Utah, a son of Roscoe Verl and Oma Chesnut Chappell. Clayton joined the United States Army and served two tours of duty in Viet Nam during the war. He married Pamela Rose Douglas, March 24, 1969 in American Fork. They were later divorced. He was a member of the LDS Church. After being released from the army, Clayton worked at Geneva Steel Plant as a laborer. He was in a very serious automobile accident on December 4, 1969 that left him disabled and unable to work. He spent his life living in Lyman, by his mother and the last part of his life was spent in a care center in Springville. Clayton is survived by his children: Todd and Alicia Chappell of Payson; Shawn Chappell of Provo; DonaLee and Charlie Webb of American Fork; his mother, Oma Chappell of Loa; three sisters: Ramola and Evan Harding of Loa; Ethel and Frank Herrera, Verla Chappell, all of American Fork. He was preceded in death by his father, Ross Chappell. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. in the Lyman LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the ward chapel in Lyman, Wednesday morning from 11:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Lyman Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
