Clint Peterson

Loa, Utah - Clinton D. Peterson, age 87, passed away May 11, 2007 at his home in Loa. He was born May 4, 1920, in Loa, Utah, a son of Joseph C. and Margaret (Maggie) Rees Peterson. He was drafted into the Air Force and served in World War II from 1942-45. He was stationed in New Guinea, Philippines and Okinawa. Upon returning from the war, he married LaRue Oyler on June 11, 1946 in Loa. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple July 5, 1983. Together they had four children: Russell, Sharon, Danny and Brad. Clint was a life time resident of Loa where he was a rancher and a farmer. He was an active member of LDS Church, serving in various positions including ordinance worker in the Manti Temple. Music was a very large part of Clint’s life. In 1932, he and his brothers organized the Peterson Orchestra, and played for numerous weddings and social functions through the years. In the later years he was a member of the Poverty Bench Boys. Clint has played and sung at many weddings, school dances, Christmas programs and New Year’s Eve dances, Old Folks Parties and funerals. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, LaRue Peterson of Loa; his children: Russell and Pam Peterson of Loa; Sharon and Dennis Wintch of Elkridge; Brad and Lynn Peterson of Santaquin; Jan and David Walch of Orem; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister: Nina and Bliss Brinkerhoff of Bicknell. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Peterson; three grandchildren; four sisters and five brothers: Jane Peterson; Margaret Chappell; Elva Taylor; Iris Peterson; Clyde Peterson; Brig Peterson; twin brother, Clifton Peterson; Thomas Peterson and Quincy Peterson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. in the Fremont LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Fremont Tuesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
