Sigurd, Utah - Clyde Norman Page, of Sigurd, Utah passed away in his home on December 17, 2022, of natural causes at the age of 87. Clyde was born to William Norman and Gwendeline Burrows Page in Tacoma, Washington on March 13, 1935, and was the youngest of five children (Barbara Dawn Page Japhet (deceased), William Edgar Page (deceased) and stillborn twins.
Clyde finished school through 8th grade then left school to work to help the family. When he was 15, his sister Barbara was diagnosed with Polio and the family decided to move to Los Angeles, California where she could receive better treatment. At the age of 17 in 1954, Clyde lied on his entry form to enter the Marines Corps and fight in the Korean Conflict where he received his G.E.D while surviving several battles. After being discharged from the Marine Corps. in 1957, Clyde went back to California and joined the Whittier, California police department where more brushes with death were common. While in Whittier, Clyde married Patricia A Roseborough on June 19, 1957, and had two children, Chris Norman Page and Shari Page (deceased).
During this time Clyde, his father, brother, and son, would come to Utah several times to hunt, fell in love with the view and peacefulness of the small towns, and decided to move his family to Sigurd, Utah. Clyde joined the ranks of the Sevier County Sherriff Office where he served as a deputy from 1974-1999.
Clyde and Patricia divorced in January 1979. He then met and fell in love with Judy Mae Phillips Sparks and her daughter Cassie Mae Sparks and were married later that year.
Clyde loved fast cars and motorcycles (though there are no records of him ever writing himself a ticket), working in his shop tinkering with wood and metal, rebuilding cars and the like.
Clyde and Judy were divorced in 1999 after which he kept himself busy doing side detective work. He developed several close relationships with people in the valley, going to Mesquite and taking motorcycle trips.
Clyde was an amazing representation of a person who lived life to the fullest and never gave in. He had numerous encounters with death throughout his life. He traveled the world and served his country and community. He loved his family and gave his all until the end. He will be missed and loved.
Clyde is survived by his son Chris Norman and Melody Page, daughter Cassie Mae and Rickie Jay Sampson, 9 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service with military honors accorded by the VFW Sevier Post #5050 and the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard will be held Friday, December 30 at 2:00 PM in the Vermillion Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
