Colleen Sorenson

October 8, 1959 — February 20, 2009

Greenwich, Utah - Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece and the best friend anyone could ask for, Colleen Ellen O’Rourke Sorenson, age 49, died February 20, 2009 in Richfield, Utah, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. She is now with her mother, Jean, and other Heavenly Angels. Colleen was born October 8, 1959 in California, a daughter of John Eldon and Jean Elise Young O’Rourke and grew up in Whittier. She married Shaun Rob Sorenson, July 23, 1984 in Whittier, California. Colleen moved to the beautiful mountainous Grass Valley area in Utah with her husband and children in 1993 and started working at the Sorenson’s Ranch School. She was very proud of “her library” and loved the kids who became her friends, many of whom kept in contact with her even after they left. Colleen loved camping, whether it be Otter Creek or Lake Powell, and loved her music. Her main goal was to make sure her family was taken care of. She always offered her support and comfort to whomever needed it. She was loved by everyone who met her and will be missed more than anyone can express. She is survived by her husband, Shaun, children: Leah Sorenson and Brett Sorenson, her loyal dog, Pipsy, all of Greenwich; her dad: Jack (Dot) O’Rourke of Whittier, CA; brothers: Ted (Cathy) O’Rourke of Whittier, CA; John (Debbie) O’Rourke of Koosharem; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and so many good friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 12 Noon in the Koosharem LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Koosharem Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
