Colleen T. Jeffery

December 23, 1930 — February 8, 2016

Fremont, Utah - Our kind and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Colleen Tanner Jeffery, age 85, of Fremont, died February 8, 2016 in Loa, Utah. She was born December 23, 1930 in Fremont, a daughter of Jesse Hilma Anderson and Rosella Morrell Tanner. She grew up in Fremont and graduated from Wayne Stake Seminary in 1947 and from Wayne High School, Class of 1948. Colleen married the love of her life, Edward Garn Jeffery, August 3, 1947 in Fremont. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple November 23, 1957. Garn preceded her in death on July 20, 2008. Colleen was a very active member of the LDS Church, serving as the Fremont Ward Sunday School Organist for 17 years, MIA Organist for 4 years; Relief Society Organist in the Fremont Ward for 12 years; and as a Sunday School and Primary Teacher, Young Woman's President and Primary President. She received the Golden Gleaner Award. She attended the McCune School of Arts for three summers where she furthered her talents on the piano. She loved playing the piano. Colleen was a member of the Camp Geyser Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for many years and served as Captain. She was instrumental in preservation of the DUP Building and establishing the John C. Fremont Park in Fremont. She served as the Loa Elementary PTA President. Colleen enjoyed quilting and made many quilts for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and always raised a big garden to provide food for her family and friends. She always had beautiful flowers and a manicured yard every summer. She enjoyed riding horses with her husband and grandkids. Colleen loved the Lord, her husband, children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Colleen is survived by her three children: Jessie and Phillip G. Pace of Torrey; Thomas A. and Virginia Jeffery, and Michael G. Jeffery, all of Fremont; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; sisters: Hilma T. Brinkerhoff of Orem and Nedra Hanks of Reno, Nevada; and sisters-in-law: Carolyn Rees of Boise, Idaho; LaRee and Norman Huntsman of Orem; and Gladys Johnson Tanner of Hanksville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson: William "Billy" Bruce Jeffery; three brothers and two sisters: J. Blair Tanner, George Vernon Tanner, Douglas Bruce Tanner, Iris Tanner and Rosella Tanner; sisters-in-law: Lois Thalman and Colleen Brinkerhoff Tanner; and brothers-in-law: Stanley Brinkerhoff and Maynard Hanks. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 12, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in the Fremont LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Friday morning from 10:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Fremont Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
