Connie Taylor Orton

November 28, 1929 — April 26, 2018

Salina, UT- Our sweet wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all, Conra “Connie” Taylor Shepherd Orton, age 88, gained her angel wings on April 26, 2018 in Gunnison, Utah. She was born November 28, 1929 in Bicknell, Utah, where she lived during most of her childhood years. The only daughter to George Alma and Alouise Rasmussen Taylor. She was the loving sister to her two younger brothers, which she adored. She graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1947, where she made many lifelong friends. She married Bud Shepherd August 28, 1950 in Elko, Nevada. They were later divorced. She married William Kenneth Orton October 31, 1987 in Cedar City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. Connie was an active member of the LDS Church where she served in many callings throughout her life. Including a mission at Cove Fort with her husband, Ken. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served on the Salina Senior Citizen Board, and a member of the Old Time Fiddlers. Connie loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed attending sporting events, plays, pageants, and concerts. Above all sitting around the camp fire laughing, joking and story telling with them. Dancing was Connie's one true passion from a very young age. In her later years, she loved gathering with her many friends to dance the night away. Connie is survived by her husband, Ken, of Salina; children: LaMont and Kathy Shepherd of Cedar City; Linda Johnson of Aurora; John and Laura Shepherd of West Valley City; Kenny and Julee Shepherd of Salina; 13 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; two brothers: Richard R. Taylor of Cedar City and Albert O. and Nola Taylor of West Valley City. She is preceded in death by her parents, G. Alma and Alouise R. Taylor; and a sister-in-law, Helen Chappell Taylor. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 95 West 400 North in Salina, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
