Coy J. Ross

Richfield, Utah - Coy Jack Ross, age 80, of Richfield, died July 17, 2010 of a massive heart attack. He was born January 14, 1930 in Sevier, Utah, a son of Donald Francis and Pearl Etta Waters Ross. Coy served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Sonja Luella Funk, August 11, 1962 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, August 11, 1970. Sonja preceded him in death, July 11, 2008. Coy retired after 32 years of Federal Service, 28 years being at Hill Air Force Base in Clearfield, Utah, as an electrical technician. He retired in 1985 and then he moved his family back home to Richfield. He enjoyed prospecting, playing his guitar, fishing, camping and hunting with his family. Coy is survived by his three of his children: Coylene and Don Brinkerhoff of Richfield; Shane and Emily Ross of Springville; Christy and Rene Gonzalez of Tucson, Arizona; 10 grandchildren: Kirsten Brinkerhoff, Kaylee Brinkerhoff, Franklin Brinkerhoff, Tyler Brinkerhoff, Adelaide Ross, S. Jonathan Ross, Henry Ross, Darrius Pena, Tayden Pena and Alejandro Gonzalez; a brother Dale and Lorraine Ross of St. George. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sonja; a son, Randy Jack Ross; and two brothers: Ralph Ross and Wendell Ross. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 12 Noon in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 260 North 400 West, in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M or Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the VFW Sevier Post #5050 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
