Craig Anderson

June 2, 1938 — May 24, 2020

Richfield, Utah - James Craig Anderson, age 81, passed away May 24, 2020 at his home in Richfield. The youngest of six children, he was born June 2, 1938 to Joseph Lyman Anderson and Violet Fern Wilkinson Anderson in Richfield, where he grew up. After graduating from Richfield High School in 1956, he studied engineering and mathematics at the University of Utah but when his father died unexpectedly, he returned to Richfield to carry on the family business. Craig married Phyllis Morrey February 24, 1961 in Joseph, Utah. To this union were born three daughters, Kerri: Camie and Brooke. Craig and Phyllis were later divorced. He married Marlene Snedeger Bastian July 1, 1972 in Aurora, Utah and joined his three daughters, with Marlene’s two daughters, Marena and Melonie. Together, they had another daughter, April. Marlene died November 16, 1999. Craig then married Karen Sue Guernsey March 9, 2002 in Mesquite, Nevada and added her two children, Wayne and Amanda, to his family. Anderson Floral became his life. Those who worked for Craig over the years in both the floral shop and the greenhouses came to feel as close as family and look back at the experience fondly. He had a great sense of humor and loved a good practical joke. When he wasn’t working you would likely find him drinking coffee with his buddies, on the open road (road trip!) or on a lake, boating and water skiing. He served in the Utah National Guard and was a long-time member of the Elk’s Club. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, businessman and friend. Craig will be sorely missed by his wife Karen of Richfield; his children Kerri Anderson of Chandler, Arizona; Camie and Robert McCracken of Phoenix, Arizona; , Marena and Troy Tanner of Richfield; April Allred of Salina, Wayne and Daren Cupp of Bebee, Arkansas; and Amanda Draper of Clearfield; his brothers Max and Nancy Anderson of Salt Lake City; and Garn and Angie Anderson, Green Valley. Arizona; sister-in-law Denise Anderson of Lehi; son-in-law Bob Ballard of St. George; grandchildren Trent, Karla, Blake, Kade, Jake, Taylor, Chance, Melonie, Brooke and Jacie; also his ex-wife, Phyllis Matson of Scottsdale, Arizona; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends who love him very much. Craig was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marlene; his siblings Verde Anderson, McKay Anderson and Joyce Albrecht; his daughters Melonie Bastian-Anderson and Brooke Ballard; a grandson Mitchell Ballard; sister-in-law DeEsta Anderson; and two brothers-in-law: Kenn Christiansen and Bud Albrecht.
