Salina, Utah - Glen Craig Barney, our beloved son, husband, father, brother and friend, passed away on a beautiful Sunday morning, March 2, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He lost a hard-fought battle following the devastating effects of a stroke. Craig was born on March 24, 1949, in Salina, Utah, to Glen M. and Melva Thompson Barney. He married Susan Rickenbach on February 12, 1972, in Richfield, Utah. They are the parents of three children. Craig attended Southern Utah University and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Passionate about many things in life, Craig loved family, snowmobiling, fast boats, the cabin, biking, hunting, farming, and anything outdoors. He was truly a teenager in an adult body. He is survived by his parents, Glen and Melva Barney of Salina; his wife Sue Barney of Salina; children: Ryan Craig Barney of Cottonwood Heights; Stacey Barney of Sandy; Tyler James and Krista Barney of Sandy; four grandchildren: Jordan Leigh; Kayli Shae; Gage Garyn Mickelsen; Dylan Tyler Barney; siblings: Glenda and Garry Lund of Salina; Brad Barney and Karen of Salina; Lane and Kim Barney of Salina. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 6, at 11:00 A.M. at the Salina Stake Center, 98 West 400 North, Salina, Utah. At Craig's request, there will be no public viewing. There will be a private gathering for family at 10:00 A.M prior to services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36, and the Utah Honor Guard , will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery, under the direction of Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to your favorite charity.
