In the early hours of February 10, 2015, our sweet and beautiful mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Dal Marr Hurst Hellstrom, age 92, passed on to her next adventure. She was born November 18, 1922 in Blanding, Utah, to George Arthur Jr. and Abalona "Lona" Porter Hurst. Dal Marr was very proud of her pioneer heritage and the fact that she was a Hurst. She was the youngest of two older sisters and an older brother. Dal Marr met her forever love at Utah State University and on April 24, 1942, she married C. Fred Hellstrom in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The community of Wayne County and Bicknell, Utah became their home until Dad’s death in 2005, when she moved north to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law. Dal Marr was a life-long devoted and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She could quote any scripture by heart and truly lived her life as Christ intended. Dal Marr held many church callings and she and Fred served an L.D.S. mission in the St. Louis, MO area, as well as serving as Ordinance Workers in the Manti Temple. Dal Marr was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. With her trademark grace and dignity, Dal Marr never complained, and participated in and enjoyed life to the very end. Mom, we know it was your time to go, but we will miss you like crazy. You had quite a ride and we’re grateful we got to share a portion of that ride with you. We love you. Enjoy your journey. Thank you to the wonderful and caring staff at The Wentworth at Willow Creek, and to the professional and competent staff at Alta View Hospital. We will never forget your kindness and compassion. Thank you to everyone who loved and cared for Mom over the years. Dal Marr is survived by her loving daughter and son, Sonja and Kyle Burdash; son and daughter-in-law, Cordell and Donna Hellstrom; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; along with many special nieces and nephews. She loved you all and thought of each of you as her own. Dal Marr was proceeded in death by her husband; sisters: Rosamond Melartin and Georgan Burtenshaw; and brother: Ray Burtenshaw; along with several beloved nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held at the Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 E. 7800 South, Sunday, February 15, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M..
