Dan Heaton

Dan Heaton Elko, Nevada - Robert Dan Heaton, age 58, died suddenly on Christmas Day 2003 at Northern Nevada Regional Hospital. He was born September 19, 1945 in Salina, Utah, a son of James Peter and Phyllis Swan Larsen Heaton. He spent his early years in Bicknell and Huntington, Utah. He attended secondary school and graduated from Monticello High School. After attending Dixie College, he enlisted in the military and served in Viet Nam. He married Virginia Lee Barns, May 30, 1969 in Grants, New Mexico. They had a son, Jeffrey Dan Heaton. They were later divorced. He married Amalia Vida, May 11, 1995 in Venezuela. They had a daughter, Jennifer Consuelo Heaton. They later divorced. Dan loved the mining industry and spent his life working in all aspects, whether as engineer on the machinery or building structural supports. His occupation took him all over the globe. He made friends easily and kept them long. He loved his family and was happiest when he was spending time with them. Era muy buena gente. Dan is survived by his son, Jeff, of St. George, UT; daughter, Jennifer, Las Vegas, NV; his mother, Phyllis Heaton, Washington, UT; sisters: Dianne (Warren) Rogers, Manti, UT; Paula (Jack) Randolf, Monticello, UT; Beck (Joe) Peterson, St. George, UT; a brother, Roger (Shawn) Heaton, Montrose, CO; and many extended family members. His father, James Peter Heaton, preceded him in death. Funerals services will be held Friday, January 2, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. in the Thurber LDS Ward Chapel, in Bicknell, Utah, where friends may call for viewing Friday morning from 11:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Bicknell Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah. Memorial services will be held Monday, January 5, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. in the Elko LDS Ward Chapel, located at 1651 Colllege Parkway in Elko, Nevada.
