Danny E. Woolsey

April 22, 1947 — June 16, 2018

Salina, Utah - Danny Earl Woolsey, 71, passed away at his home in Salina, surrounded by his family on June 16, 2018 after a 15 year battle with cancer. Danny was born on April 22, 1947 in Richfield, Utah, a son of Hardy and Clella Spencer Woolsey. He lived in Escalante, Utah until he was five years old. Then he moved around with his family while his dad worked in the oil fields. In 1965, his family moved back to Escalante. He graduated from Escalante High School. He attended Sevier Valley Tech and graduated in 1969 in Auto Mechanics. Danny met the love of his life, RaeAnn Williams, dragging main in Richfield, Utah. They dated on and off over the next 6 months. In 1969, he was drafted in the United States Army and stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. He married RaeAnn Williams on September 26, 1969 in Tacoma, Washington. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple April 11, 1987. After they were married Danny was out for field training and RaeAnn returned to Salina. Danny served in the Vietnam war as a Helicopter Mechanic from December 1970 to December 1971. They moved back to Salina and raised their family. Danny worked for Hales Sand and Gravel for seven years and for the Utah State Road Department (UDOT) for 28 years. Danny loved spending time with his family in the mountains: hunting, camping, fishing, hiking and four-wheeling. He loved to take family trips teaching his sons about American History. As his family grew, his two grandsons became the highlight of his life. Danny is survived by his wife RaeAnn Williams Woolsey of Salina, his three sons and their families: Gregory, Felicia and Carter of Yelm, Washington; Russell, Castina and August of Mesquite, Nevada; Adam and Cody of Parowan, Utah; his sister Judy and Wallace Ludgate of Cedar City, Utah; and his brother Ross Woolsey of Beaver Dam, Arizona. Danny is preceded in death by his daughter Misty Ann; his grandsons Lawson and Michael; his parents Hardy and Clella Spencer Woolsey; and his sisters Georgia Woolsey and Joy Shakespear. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 12:00 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM or Saturday morning from 10:00 AM -11:30 AM prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
