Darlene Edna Folkner

August 3, 1938 — May 7, 2016

Ephraim, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, neighbor, and friend, Darlene Edna Rolph Folkner, age 77, peacefully returned to our Heavenly Father while surrounded by her beloved family at her son's home in Ephraim, Utah on May 7, 2016. She was born August 3, 1938 in Mesa, Arizona. A daughter of Justin Earl and Josephine Allred Rolph. She grew up in Mesa where she attended Mesa High School and graduated with the class of 1953. She went on to attend Apollo College in Mesa, Arizona. She married Ralph George Phillips in 1956. They later divorced. She married John Edward Folkner on December 6, 1969 in Mesa, Arizona. He died on February 8, 2011. Darlene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings including Librarian, and Relief Society President. Darlene loved the gospel and worked hard to help her children and grandchildren gain testimonies. She enjoyed discovering her genealogy. She was extremely active in the Boy Scouts of America. The BSA awarded her the Silver Fawn which at the time was the highest award available to women. She was a member of the Rebecca lodge in Globe, Arizona. Darlene loved to craft. She crocheted, quilted, made ceramics, and sewed. She enjoyed reading and puzzles. She was a hard worker whose hands were always busy with good works. She was always looking out for those in need. She loved and served many children whom she didn't bear, and she especially loved her family. Darlene is survived by her children: Sue Young of Mesa, Arizona; Rose Mary and Thomas Colby of Bagdad, Arizona; Roberta Lynn Folkner of Ephraim, Utah; Susan and Leroy Pollard of Ephraim, Utah; Ralph George Smith of Florence, Arizona; Fred and Michelle Folkner of Ephraim, Utah; Doreen and Michael Selby of Mesa, Arizona; her siblings: JoAnn and Larry Hayden of Tonopah, Nevada; Earlene Lunt of Pleasant Grove, Utah; Larry and Bunnie Moore of Showlow, Arizona; Loryn and Ann Moore of Thatcher, Arizona; Gerald Nielsen of Orem, Utah; Zilpha and Alan Gardener of Thatcher, Arizona; Oliver and Sandra Nielsen of Springville, Utah; 37 Grandchildren; 69 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Justin Earl and Josephine Allred Rolph; her mother Bertha Olivia Nielsen; her ex-husbands: John Edward Folkner; Ralph George Phillips; her son: John Edward Folkner Jr.; her daughter: Sharon Ann Damron; her sisters: Lucy Isabelle Roberson; Elaine Nielsen Turner; her brothers: William Ednar Rolph; Earl James Rolph; Ray Justin Rolph; Donald Rolph; Frank Nielsen; Wilbur Nielsen; Ron Nielsen. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 16, 2016 in the Ephraim 7th Ward Chapel 400 East Center, Ephraim, Utah. Services are under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
