Aurora, Utah - Darwin Glen Anderson, age 83, of Aurora, passed away peacefully at the Gunnison Valley Hospital, December 30, 2014. He was born June 22, 1931 in Salina, Utah to Samuel Glen and Alta Spencer Anderson. He was raised on their family farm in Aurora, Utah. He married Leona Beth Colby from Vermillion, Utah on April 18, 1949. From that union they were blessed with three children: Danny Glen, Mark Edwin and Debra Pauline. Leona passed away from cancer August 8, 1961. Following Leona's passing, he married Rachel Mendenhall and the family was blessed with two more sons: Austin Joel and Robert Edward Anderson. Not all things were made to last and the family was split when Darwin and Rachel divorced. Many years later he met andfell in love with Marilyn Laura McKenzie Turley from Caliente, Nevada. They were married on December 28, 1983 in Aurora, Utah. From this new union, he gained three step-children whom he loved and adored: Lillian Mae, Michael Raymond and Marnie Kathleen. Darwin and Marilyn enjoyed 31 years together and were together until his passing. Darwin graduated from Utah State University in 1963 and began a career working for the US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. He retired after 30 years and settled back at his family farm in Aurora, where he became Water Master, a job that he truly enjoyed for over 26 years. Family was his whole focus and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid reader and enjoyed studying history and politics. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, gardening, weather tracking, guns and ammunition reloading. During the Korean Conflict, he served an honorable tour as a US Marine on the USS Kearsarge and other locations throughout Korea. Darwin is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Aurora; his 8 children: Danny and Pamela Anderson of Kaysville; Mark and Diane Anderson of Veyo; Debra Anderson of Aurora; Austin and Laura Anderson of North Salt Lake; Robert and Susan Anderson of Rock Springs, Wyoming; Lillian and Kevin Valerio of Caliente, Nevada; Michael and Shauna Turley of Overton, Nevada; Marnie and Tim Fritz of Woodinville, Washington; 22 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; siblings: LaVonPlatis of Sacramento, California; Eugene Anderson of Monroe; Julian and Faye Anderson of Bloomington; Althea and Scott Farhni of Clearfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lillian Anderson; a granddaughter, ShandyRhea Anderson and his first wife, Leona Beth Colby Anderson. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 5, 2015 at 12 Noon in the Aurora 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street in Salina, Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Aurora, Monday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and the United States Marine Corp will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
