Austin, Utah - Our beloved father, grandfather and brother, David Peter Oldroyd, age 70, of Austin, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, September 8, 2012 in Richfield, Utah. He was born August 16, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Arnold Archibald and Mary Marray Sorenson Oldroyd. He married Karen Lee, in September of 1964 in Richfield, Utah. They were later divorced. He married Bennith Rae Taylor, April 7, 1965 in Elko, Nevada. She died September 26, 2011. David served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. He was a member of the LDS Church. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and enjoyed gold prospecting and being in the mountains. He worked in construction and was an excellent cement finisher. David was a very friendly person, and would do anything for anybody. He never met a stranger, because he was so friendly and outgoing with everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. He is survived by his children: LeeAnna and Russell Joiret of St. George; David A. and Evelyn Oldroyd of Elsinore; Viva R. and Ron Kroeger, Travis R. and Kim Oldroyd, all of Independence, Missouri; Crystal S. Oldroyd of Austin; 20 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister, Viva Palmer of Draper. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Bennith; and five brothers: Ferris A. Oldroyd, William Harve Oldroyd, Van Carol Oldroyd, Frank W. Oldroyd and McKay Blair Oldroyd. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Monroe Ambulance Crew for their quick response and tender care of Dad; to Sevier Valley Hospital for their concerns and tender care of Dad during his final hours; to all the family members that were so gentle, caring and trusting while we have prepared for Dad’s funeral. Also, a special thanks to Springer Turner Funeral Home for helping us during this trying time, to make it as sacred as it should be without contention and allowing peace to flow freely. And finally a special thanks to Evelyn Oldroyd, who daily sacrificed for Dad and Crystal and their well being. No greater daughter-in-law could be found anywhere. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 12 Noon in the Monroe 4th LDS Ward Chapel, 49 East 200 North in Monroe.
