Elsinore, Utah - Our kind and beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Harold Dean Davidson, age 95, died July 11, 2012 in Monroe, Utah. He was born October 2, 1916 in Gravette, Benton County, Arkansas, a son of Wiley Simons and Cora Lula Puryear Davidson. He came to Utah from Arkansas in the 1930's with the Civilian Conservation Corps and after going home for a visit, he returned to Utah and married Neta Barney, September 3, 1939 in Junction, Utah. They made their home in Sevier County since 1947. Dean was baptized in the LDS Church August 3, 1952. He and Neta were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti LDS Temple April 20, 1954. Neta died August 30, 2008. Dean has been a very active member of the LDS Church, serving as clerk to several Bishops., Scout Leader, High Priest Group Leader, Family History Missionary, and he also served a full time mission with Neta in the Ohio Akron Mission from 1985-86, where he served in the Branch Presidency of the Galion Ohio Branch. Dean served on the Elsinore Town Board, served as the secretary for the Elsinore Bench Irrigation Company and was a member of the Lion’s Club. He loved to garden and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his garden with friends and family and was best known for his delicious blackberries. He enjoyed fishing, baseball and rock hunting. Dean worked at Georgia Pacific in Sigurd for 35 years, retiring in 1981. He is survived by his children: Shirley and Douglas Conder of South Jordan; Sandra Walker of Las Vegas, Nevada; Shanna and Ronald Nielson of West Valley City; Dana Jean and Glen Bond of Taylorsville; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law: Ben and Marla Barney of Richfield; and two nieces, DeAnna and Cora Davidson of Layton. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Ernest and Mary Davidson, Roy Gilbert and Dora Deane Davidson; a sister, Agnes and Olin Nichols; and a son-in-law: Jay Dee Walker. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the staff, nurses and care-givers at Monroe Canyon Assisted Living and to all the faithful family, friends and Dad’s Home Teachers who visited him often. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the Elsinore LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Monday evening from 7 to 9 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Elsinore Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
