Delaine M. Chappell

October 13, 1925 — February 19, 2010

Lyman, Utah - Our kind and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Hannah Delaine Madsen Chappell, age 84, died February 19, 2010 in Loa, Utah. She was born October 13, 1925 in Richfield, Utah, a daughter of Earl and Nellie Christina Dickinson Madsen. She graduated from Richfield High School, Class of 1943. She served an LDS Mission in the Texas-Louisiana Mission as a young woman. Delaine married Lloyd Bybee Chappell, February 22, 1949 in the Manti LDS Temple. He died December 1, 1995. Delaine was very active in the LDS Church, serving in all the auxiliaries. She loved the gospel with all her heart and served willingly in all her church callings. She served as the Stake Relief Society President in the Wayne Stake and was a faithful member throughout her entire life. She and Lloyd served a mission in the San Jose, California Mission. They also served as Temple Ordinance Workers in the Manti Temple for four years. Delaine’s greatest joys in life were serving her family and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, good works and great meals. She loved to travel with her husband, Lloyd, but most of all, she enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children: LaRell and Susan Chappell of Glenwood; Nathan and Nila Chappell of Orem; Lois and Stanley Brian of Loa; Byron and Tara Chappell of St. George; Nora Ann and Todd Petersen of Gunnison; JaNell and Jeffrey Peterson, Bruce and Dana Chappell, all of Lyman; 46 grandchildren and 92 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother: Edna and Bryant Washburn of Richfield; Ora Dean Christensen of Salt Lake City; Jay Earl and JoAnn Madsen of Payson. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Madsen; her mother and step-father, Nellie and Dee Atkinson; her husband, Lloyd B. Chappell and a daughter, Lorraine Chappell. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the Lyman LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Wednesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Lyman Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
