Deloyd Lund

Gunnison, Utah - Alva Deloyd Lund, age 86, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 of natural causes. Deloyd was born July25, 1928 in Clarion, Utah, a son of Alva H. and Amber Metcalf Lund. He grew up in Gunnison and graduated from Gunnison High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force during WWII. Deloyd married Lela Williams in 1950 and they later divorced. He married Arva Torgenson on June 16, 1956 in Salina, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple September 9, 1979. Deloyd was employed by Jelco and Emko for 25 years as an equipment transporter and operator. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a High Priest. He was also a member of the Centerfield American Legion Post #105 and the Elks Lodge. His wife and family were his greatest joy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling in their motor home, riding four wheelers and going to the farm every day with his sons. Deloyd is survived by his loving wife, Arva, of Gunnison; his sons: Garry and Glenda Lund of Salina; Kim and Julie Lund, Scott and Suzette Lund, all of Centerfield; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother: Newell Lund of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: R. Eugene Lund and a grandson, Jared Lund. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 6, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, where friends may call for viewing Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Centerfield American Legion Post #105 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
