Central Valley, Utah – DeVon R. Christensen, age 81, of Central Valley, passed away at his home on December 10, 2016. He was born March 30, 1935 in Richfield, Utah, a son of Reed and Barbara May Levie Christensen. He graduated from Richfield High School with the class of 1953. He married Elberta Sorenson on May 24, 1958 in Ely, Nevada. DeVon served his country as a member of the National Guard, where he was deployed to Puerto Rico in 1959. He volunteered as a firefighter for the Richfield Fire Department for 25 years. He also served with the Sevier County Search and Rescue for many years. He and his wife Elberta owned and operated the Jensen Hotel for 30 years. DeVon was a hard worker, as a carpenter he built many of the houses in the area. DeVon is survived by his wife, Elberta Christensen, of Central Valley; his sons, Bryce R. Christensen of Salt Lake City; Rick E. Christensen of St. George; Audy Ryan and Donna Christensen of Monroe; a daughter Teresa Marie Christensen of Spring City; a brother Duane Christensen of Spring City. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Tazmarie Christensen; his brother Alma Christensen and his sister Sylva Mae Christensen. Graveside services with military honors accorded by the Monroe American Legion Post #37 and the Utah Honor Guard will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday December 14, 2016 in the Richfield City Cemetery. .
