Aurora, Utah - Lynn Devon Shaw, age 82, passed from this life at his home in Aurora, on May 9, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. He was born April 22, 1931 in Aurora, Utah, a son of Richard Lynn and Fern Nordfelt Shaw. He graduated from North Sevier High School, Class of 1949. He served an LDS Mission to the North-Western States Mission. Devon married Edith LaDella Mellor on December 27, 1952, in the Manti Temple. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Devon worked as a Master Electrician, wiring homes and LDS chapels throughout the United States and for Sevier County School District. He had the privilege of working with his son, and grandson on the Nauvoo Temple as volunteer electricians. He spent the last 30 years of his life doing what he loved, working on the family farm. He served faithfully in the LDS church, as bishop from 1983 to 1988 in Aurora. He also served in a bishopric, High Council, Sunday School Presidency, and as a Stake Athletic Director. Devon enjoyed basketball, softball, and waterskiing. He was even waterskiing at the age of 72. Devon is survived by his wife, LaDella Mellor Shaw of Aurora; his children: Gary (Kathleen) Shaw of Salt Lake City; Mary Shaw of Aurora; Kathy (Steven) Emfield of Coalville, California; Mike (Nannette) Shaw of Kaysville; Sonya (Troy) Kartchner of Fairview; Troy (Kim) Shaw of Bluffdale; Robert (Kelsey) Shaw of Aurora; and his brothers and sisters, Wayland (Nannette) Shaw, Therron (Suzanne) Shaw all of Aurora; Linda (Bryant) Mickelson of Redmond; Judy (Roger) Myers of West Jordan and Raelene (Trent) Cowley of Casper, Wyoming. At the time of his death, Devon had 34 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Fern Shaw, 5 brothers: Reed, Kendall, Rhondo, Rance and Brian Shaw; and his son, Craig (spouse to Mary). The family extends its sincere appreciation to many doctors and hospice nurses, for the kind care and service rendered during Devon’s last months. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 12 Noon in the Aurora 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 85 South Main, where friends may call for viewing Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Aurora Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
