Diana Luella Barney

May 29, 1937 — October 20, 2024

Diana Luella Barney, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024, in Cedar City, Utah. She was born on May 29, 1937, in Richfield, Utah, daughter of Floyd Edgar and Ronelda Marie Robinson Riddle.

Diana lost her mother at the age of 10 and was raised by her grandmother, Lillie Nielson. Diana grew up in Richfield and attended Richfield High School. She married Clee George Barney on December 27, 1953 in Fredonia, Arizona. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on December 30, 1978. 

Diana's life was filled with many adventures, as she traveled with her husband across the globe through his military career, living in various places including Germany, Texas, Washington, California, Turkey, Nevada, and Arizona. After retirement, they spent many winter years in Quartzsite, Arizona. She loved the outdoors. One of Diana's cherished pastimes was camping at their property on Acord's Lake, especially with her grandchildren. Throughout her life, she always loved to travel and explore the world.

Diana had a lifelong love for music. Diana and Clee loved to sing together and perform with their band. She passed her love of music to her children and grandchildren, raising many talented musicians. Diana was also an accomplished artist. She showcased her talents through oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings, earning several awards in recognition of her skill and passion. Her creative spirit was a reflection of her love for life, and her talent inspired those around her to see beauty in the world. Along with her many other talents, Diana was a talented seamstress, she would sew clothing for her children and even clothes for their dolls.

Diana was a devoted mother; she was very protective and never failed to stand up for her children. Her devotion carried onto her grandchildren. Diana's legacy will live on through her family.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Diana and Steve Hunter, of Cedar City; Denise Elaine and Don Lindsay, of Venice; Danny Clee Barney, of Monroe; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 51 great-great-grandchildren.

Diana is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clee George Barney; her grandson, Ricky Mack Gentry; her parents, Floyd and Ronelda Riddle; and her siblings, LaVarro Riddle; Marie Brinkerhoff; Ronnie Brinkerhoff; Kirk Riddle; Gloria Riddle; Trenton Riddle

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West in Richfield. There will be a viewing from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM, prior to the service.

Burial will be at the Annabella City Cemetery, under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina.
