Dobby Jorgensen Richfield, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Verdon Harold “Dobby” Jorgensen, age 72, died in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 17, 2004 in Richfield, Utah. He was born November 20, 1931 in Richfield, a son of Harold Walter and Polly Matilda Williams Jorgensen. He graduated from Richfield High School, Class of 1950 where he excelled in sports, especially baseball and basetball. He was in the United States Army National Guard, Battery A of the 222 Field Artillery during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952. Dobby married DonNetta Sorenson, April 25, 1953 in Monroe, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, June 8, 1965. Dobby was a truck driver for W S Hatchco out of Woods Cross, Utah for over 20 years. He then worked for Lays Rock Products and then for Richfield Coal and Oil in Richfield. In his younger years, Dobby coached Little League Baseball. He was a sportsman; he enjoyed hunting deer and pheasants and going fishing. He raised, trained and raced quarter horse race horses. He loved his horses. Dobby was a real family man and he loved his wife, kids and grandkids. He is survived by his wife, DonNetta of Richfield. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this past April. He is also survived by his children: Nicky and Jerry Nebeker of Annabella; Kendell and Tana Jorgensen of Richfield; Tammy and Eric Roberts of Annabella; Annette and Jeff Horgan of Monroe; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 brother: Norman and Nola Jorgensen of Roy; sister-in-law: Earlene Jorgensen of Richfield. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Lee Jorgensen Beaven; 1 brother and 1 sister: Gordon Lee Jorgensen and Judy Ann Jorgensen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at 12 Noon in the Richfield 10th LDS Ward Chapel, located at 200 East Center Street in Richfield. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and at the ward chapel on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the VFW Sevier Post #5050 will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
