Don K. Akers

Elsinore, Utah - Donald Keith Akers, age 76, of Elsinore, died December 15, 2008 at his home in Elsinore after a valiant battle with lung cancer. He was born August 30, 1932 in Grand Junction, Colorado, a son of Donald Dick and Louise F. Hartman Akers. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army. He married Eileen Mary Musacchia, October 3, 1964 in Manhattan Beach, California. She died November 12, 2005. Don owned and operated a paint store and worked construction in California and after retiring in 1974, he and Eileen moved to Elsinore, a place that they dearly loved. He was a great neighbor, and actively stepped up to help anyone in need. Don was a very friendly person and he never met a stranger. He was always willing to help his friends and neighbors build things or help in any way. He loved his cats and treated them like kings. Don was always willing to donate money to various charities around the country. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and a sister, Deanna C. Svaldi. Grave side services will be held Friday, December 19, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Grand Junction Municipal Cemetery in Grand Junction, Colorado. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Wednesday evening, December 17, 2008 from 7 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in the Grand Junction Municipal Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
