Gunnison, Utah/San Jacinto, California - Donald Lee Blubaugh, age 81, of Gunnison, died May 23, 2014 in Gunnison, Utah. He was born September 9, 1932 in Lucas County, Iowa, a son of Cecil Henry and Creola Alberta McCoy Blubaugh. He graduated from Chariton, Iowa High School, Class of 1950 and attended college in Colorado and New Mexico. He served in the US Army for 3 years during the Korean War. Don married Marlene M. Wilcox, December 1, 1990 in Orange County, California. He served as Director of Conservation for the State of California and also served as President of the California Mining Association. Don was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as Sunday School President, San Diego Temple Open House Supervisor, Ward Mission Leader in three different wards and as a Temple Worker in the Redlands LDS Temple for 7 years. He enjoyed doing genealogy work, handiwork and crafts. Don is survived by his wife, Marlene, of Gunnison; children: David M. and Annie Blubaugh of Grand Prairie, Texas; Douglas M. and Diane Blubaugh of Los Alamitos, California; Deanne M. and Mike Pistole of Riverside, California; Debra M. and Tom Bury of Greenville, Wisconsin; Doris M. and Brian Champlin of Littleton, Colorado; Denise M. Christopoulos of Aurora, Colorado; and Dorothy M. Harper of Long Beach, California; step-children: Catherine and Mike Wozab, JoAnn Bardsley, both of Mayfield, Utah; William and Emanuella Bardsley of Quail Valley, California; and Sean and Christine Woods of San Diego, California; 17 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne and Rhonda Blubaugh of Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Christine Mae Blubaugh. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 2, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in the San Jacinto LDS Ward Chapel in San Jacinto, California, where friends may call for viewing from 8:30 to 9:30 prior to the services. Graveside services and burial will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday in the Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California, under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
