Donald D. Breese

January 15, 1914 — March 14, 2008

Richfield, Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Donald Delos Breese, age 94, died March 14, 2008 in Richfield, of causes incident to age. Because of his warm heart and ready smile, and great sense of humor, Don was able to make friends easily and because of this, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Don’s faith was never ending. His love of God sustained him to the very end. Don was born January 15, 1914 in Albion, New York, a son of Dudley and Delores Adelaide Flannery Breese. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluff, Iowa, Class of 1931. He married Margaret Johanna Petersen, November 13, 1934 in Papillion, Nebraska. He attended 1 year of college at Indianola College in Indianola, Iowa. He served in the ROTC Program and the National Guard from 1934 to 1941. Don worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber for 11 years and then started working for Montgomery Wards in 1948 and retired in1967. In 1959 Don and Margaret moved to California to work, and then they settled in Richfield in 1992, moving from West Covina, California. Don was a founding member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in California and the Valley Community Church in Richfield, where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Teacher. He has preached many, many sermons. He worked on Billy Graham Crusades two different times. He was a member of the Lion’s Club for many years. He enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, gardening and church work. Don is survived by his loving wife, Margaret of Richfield; children: Phyllis Marnette and Bernard Vandette of Oak Hills, California; Kathleen Adelle and Leon Marticorena of Monroe; Pam Breese of Castle Rock, Colorado; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister and brother: Barbara and Conrad Kwasnicki of Pleasanton, California; Roger Everett Durham of Tucson, Arizona; Gloria Stone Breese, a good friend and mother of six of the grandchildren; sister-in-law: Jane Durham of Mesa, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald Thomas Breese; a brother Byron Reed Durham; brothers-in-law: Everett M. Bousfield; Lyle Anderson, Bob Berthelsen and sisters-in-law: Ruth Petersen Falksen and Delona Petersen. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2008 in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1270 West 1800 South in Richfield at 10:30 A.M. where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services. At his request, Donald’s body has been donated to the University of Utah Body Donor Program to help in teaching medical students and further research in the medical profession. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Intermountain Hospice, 70 East 1100 North, Richfield, UT. 84701 or to Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, World Hunger Appeal, P.O.
