Donna E. Nelson

Elsinore, Utah - Our kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Donna Elizabeth Hale Nelson, age 83, passed away January 12, 2017 in Provo, Utah, after a valiant and brave battle with cancer. She was born November 28, 1933 in Fairplay, Park County, Colorado, a daughter of Nathan Hawley and Elizabeth Gardner Hale. She married Russel Alvin Nelson, August 31, 1952 in Salida, Chaffee County, Colorado. Donna was an active member of the LDS Church. She worked on the Family History Library Staff in Salem, Oregon for many years. She had a great love for genealogy and Temple work. She was very devoted to her family and also enjoyed quilting, sewing, embroidery, crocheting and other handicrafts. She enjoyed contributing to humanitarian projects, using her many talents. Donna is survived by her husband, Russel, of Elsinore; children: Amber and Dean Riddle of Grand Prairie, Texas; Robin Nelson of Provo; Wade Nelson of Bend, Oregon; James and Barbara Nelson of Stayton, Oregon; Yvonne and Scott Winn of Highland; John and Mykal Nelson of Sanford, North Carolina; Holly and Fritz Juengling of Bountiful; June and Bryan Standley of Springville; Linda and Jim Barsch of Cottonwood Heights; Sheila Ortiz of Richfield; Jacob Nelson of Provo; Zachary and Julianne Nelson of Provo; Anita and Ryan Murdock of St. Augustine, Florida; Kerry and Julie Nelson of Spanish Fork; 62 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry Denison of Elko, Nevada. She is preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Linda Soule. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in the Elsinore LDS Ward Chapel, 75 North Center, in Elsinore, Utah, where friends may visit with the family from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Elsinore Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
