Donna H. Nielson

Aurora, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Donna Lorraine Hale Nielson, age 71, passed away September 30, 2012 at her daughter’s home in Redmond, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. She was very courageous through her short battle with cancer. Donna was born October 24, 1940 in Compton, California, a daughter of Lawrence Walker and Reva Dorothy Babcock Hale. She moved to Salt Lake City as a young child and lived there happily with her mother and daddy, Albert Abaum Estigoy. Donna married Bryce Lee Nielson, March 7, 1966 in Elko, Nevada. “Ma” and “Pa” resided in northern Utah until 1994 when they settled down in Aurora, Utah to retire. Bryce died June 20, 2010. Donna and Bryce loved to take their children and grandchildren camping, hunting and fishing throughout the years. Granny loved gardening and enjoyed her time out in the yard. She also like to crochet, embroider and craft gifts and home decor. She had a special love for her bunnies. She cherished getting together with her family and having them all over for Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas dinner and many barbeques at her home. Donna is survived by her children: Mitch Nielson, Sandy and Paul Robbins, all of Kearns; Dortha Mortensen of Redmond; Bryce Nielson Jr. of Ogden; Christy Fox of Ephraim; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bryce Lee Nielson; two sons: George Albert Nielson and Richard Parley Nielson; a daughter, Tonya Marie Rosell; two brothers: Carl Barker and Dell Barker; a sister: Carol Jones; her parents, Albert Abaum Estigoy and Reva Dorothy Babcock Estigoy; her mother-in-law: Laura K. Follett Jones and one grandson, James Carl Mortensen. Grave side services will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Wednesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
