Donna Vee Jensen Sorenson

Axtell, Utah – Donna Vee Jensen Sorenson, age 92, passed away September 3, 2023, in Centerfield, Utah. She was born August 3, 1931, in Redmond, Utah, the third of eight children born to Valton James and Veda Ann Jensen Jensen. She had three brothers and four sisters. Donna Vee grew up in Redmond, where she attended elementary school and North Sevier High School in Salina. She had a very happy childhood.

She met Leland LaMar Sorenson when he returned home from the war and they dated for over a year. He became her lifelong compassion and love of her life when they were married July 20, 1948, in Redmond. Their marriage was solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple December 9, 1982. Leland and Donna had three children, a son, Steven LaMar Sorenson who was their pride and joy, and two still born babies, a daughter Debra Ann and a son, Wade.

Leland and Donna made their home in Axtell and have lived all their married life there. Their life work was farming and ranching. Donna Vee loved to sew and she made many quilts and bed spreads.

She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her church callings teaching Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society. She served for more than 20 years in the Relief Society Presidency. She loved being a Visiting Teacher/Minister and was one for many years. She loved going to the Temple and to dinner with friends.

Donna Vee enjoyed being with her family and cooking meals for them. She enjoyed working with her husband and going to get wood with him. Donna Vee and Leland were married for over 71 years before Leland’s death on January 26, 2020.

She is survived by her son, Steven LaMar and his wife, Patricia Sorenson of Kanosh; 3 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; brother: Dale Thomas and Carol Jensen of Barstow, California.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leland; her parents; her two babies; grandsons, Kel LaMar Sorenson and Trevor Wade Sorenson; and her siblings: Beverly Ann and James Markos, Doris LaRue and Wallace Caldwell, Glenna Elaine and Sidney B. Safran, Virginia Dawn Grendahl, Howard James Jensen, and Valton Ross Jensen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. in the Axtell 1st LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Redmond Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
