DonnaVoy Sorenson

Glenwood, Utah - DonnaVoy Stoddard Sorenson, age 80, passed away peacefully with her husband Kirk by her side at their home in Glenwood, Utah in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 27, 2024. She was born July 12, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Theo Wilson and Katherine Elmira Benson Stoddard. She married her soul mate Kirk B Sorenson almost 62 years ago in the Manti LDS Temple. They were married December 14, 1962.

When she was young, she enjoyed riding her bike and swimming. Later in life those hobbies also included rock hunting, fishing, sewing, quilting, tatting, crocheting and knitting. 

She had two rewarding careers, which were working at Sevier Valley Hospital and driving the school bus for Sevier School District. She was named “School Bus Driver of the Year” by the Utah Safety Council in 1999. She drove the school bus for 25 years and was very proud to say she did so. 

She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. DonnaVoy had a strong testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was the Girls Camp Director and absolutely loved that calling! She also served in the Relief Society, Young Women’s, Primary and Sunday School Organizations. She enjoyed serving as a Ward Missionary with her husband. 

When her sons were asked what a famous quote was from their mom, they replied, “Wait till your Dad comes home!” However, her daughter said she never got in trouble with her father! 

DonnaVoy is survived by her soul mate and best friend, her husband, Kirk Sorenson of Glenwood; her children: Colleen (Jim) Waters of Sigurd; Jeffery (Kenna) Sorenson of Spring Creek, Nevada; Robert (Vivian) Sorenson of Glenwood; an honorary daughter, Debbie (Jere) Nash of Kemmerer, Wyoming; 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; her sister, Ovena Einzinger of Murray, and her brother, Clay Stoddard of Salt Lake City. 

DonnaVoy is preceded in death by her parents, Theo and Katherine Stoddard; a daughter, Tonda Kay Sorenson; a son, Kirk Leroy Sorenson and a grandson, Brandon Eric Waters. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Wednesday morning one hour prior to the services.
