Dorothy Linfor

January 5, 1940 — October 7, 2022

Elsinore, Utah - Artist and beloved friend Dorothy Sporle Makin Linfor’s legacy of love and a life well lived does not end with her death. Dorothy passed away peacefully on the night of October 7, 2022, at the age of 82, a night she spent with dear friends and family.


Dorothy was born January 5, 1940 in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, England, the daughter of George Albert and Beatrice Pugh Makin. In 1956 she boarded the Queen Mary on a journey to join her sister’s family in Utah in the United States. Early on in the field of technology, she developed her skills and experience with computer and data management.


She retired to Elsinore, Utah, where she met many wonderful and beloved friends, including her husband, John “Jack” Linfor. On June 9, 2005, they married in Richfield, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on June 9, 2006.


The simplest of wonders in life brought great joy to Dorothy. She loved gardening, painting, poetry, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Her pleasant and accepting personality was contagious to everyone she met.


Dorothy was met on the other side of the veil by many family members and friends including her husband Jack Linfor, parents George and Beatrice Makin, sister Margaret Makin Craig, and brothers Edward and Barrie Makin. She will be greatly missed here on this side of the veil by many who will forever cherish her example and the memories shared.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 11:30 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Central Valley 2nd Ward Building, (49 No. Central Blvd. Central Valley UT, 84754). Friends and family members can meet one hour prior to the services.


To Dorothy’s many friends and family members located in the Elsinore and Richfield area, you made her final days beautiful, meaningful, and filled with love thank you very much!


Burial will be in the Elsinore Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
