Richfield, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Douglas Ernest Herbert, "Herb", age 75, died January 5, 2014 at his home in Richfield. He was born February 4, 1938 in Salina, Utah, a son of Vaun Robins and LaVaun Jensen Herbert. He graduated from North Sevier High School, Class of 1956. Herb studied engineering and management at BYU. He proudly spent his career in the United States Army, serving in Germany, Korea and the USA. He received many commendations and medals, retiring in January of 1982. Herb was born and raised in Salina. He spent many happy years at the Herbert Family Ranch near Salina. He played baseball for the minor leagues and was a lifelong CUBS fan. We love you Daddy!!! He married Sandra Lee Sant, February 13, 1979 in Kansas City, Missouri. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Herbert of Richfield; children: Ernest and Sharon Herbert of Layton; Sonya Weiss of Sunset; Marcy and Ted Korgenski of Ogden; Terry and Beverly Major of Rancho Cucamonga, California; Scott Schofield of Clearfield; Keri and Tyler Walker, Becky and George Knorr, all of Richfield; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Gay and Jerry Jorgensen of Lewiston; Jana and Cal Rist of West Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vaun and LaVaun Herbert, and a brother, Phil Herbert. Private family services were held at the family home in Richfield. Burial will take place at a later date under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
