Douglas J. Grundy

December 6, 1951 — October 31, 2015

Loa, Utah - Our kind and gentle husband, father, grandfather and brother, Douglas Jay Grundy, age 63, slipped peacefully away on October 31, 2015 at his home in Loa of a heart attack. He was born December 6, 1951 in Salina, Utah, a son of Wade Allred and Owona Brown Grundy. He graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1970. He married Garaldean Taylor, June 29, 1973 in the Manti LDS Temple. Doug lived his entire life in Loa, where he enjoyed raising his family, working and enjoying the peaceful valley. Doug started working at an early age for Brown Brother Construction and learned the value of hard work. He and his brother Wayne, later started their own construction company and worked together for 10 years. In 1990, Doug started Grundy Trucking and in 1995 he started Grundy Concrete, working with his sons, Cody and Alan. Doug served on the Loa Fire Department for 35 years, and on the Loa Town Board for 13 years. He enjoyed hunting, camping, flying his airplane, but most of all, he loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, family and friends. Doug will be missed and is survived by his loving wife, Garaldean, of Loa; his two sons and their wives: Cody D. and LeeAnn Grundy; Alan D. and Lacie J. Grundy, all of Loa; grandchildren: Carson O. Grundy, Addison M. Grundy, Alania J. Grundy and Wade Alan Grundy, all of Loa; brothers: Wayne and Jeraldine Grundy of Annabella; Steven W. and Ileene R. Grundy of Monroe; Scott L. and Melanie O. Grundy of Lyman; his parents-in-law: Dick and Joan D. Taylor of Fremont; brother and sisters-in-law: Dexter V. Taylor of Fremont; JoLynn Dangerfield of Lehi; Dixie and Bill Spencer of Ivins; JoDee and Chris Harker of Fremont. He was preceded in death by his parents: Wade A. and Owona B. Grundy; an infant brother, Devon Grundy; a brother, Clive Grundy; and a brother-in-law: Kim Dangerfield. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M or at the Stake Center in Loa, Wednesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
