Sante Fe, New Mexico – Our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt, Dr. Kathy Lynn Albrecht, age 58, passed away unexpectedly in Santa Fe, New Mexico on September 25, 2021. She was born July 18, 1963 in Richfield, a daughter of Billy Coy and Beverly Black Albrecht. Kathy enjoyed growing up on her grandparents, Boyd and Katherine Black, ranch in Torrey. She loved the red cliffs and the horses. When Kathy was in elementary school her family moved to Salt Lake City, though she returned to the ranch and lived there every summer until she graduated from high school. As a teenager, her family moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming. She graduated from Rock Springs High School, Class of 1981. She got her Bachelors of Social Work (BSW) from UNLV in Las Vegas, Nevada; her Masters of Social Work (MSW) from New Mexico Highlands University in Santa Fe, and her Doctorate of Education (EdD) from Fielding Graduate University in Santa Fe. Kathy married Brian Rawlings November 7, 1981 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. They were later divorced. She married Max Aguilar in Arizona and they later divorced. Kathy loved horses and had a passion for helping others. She dedicated her life to social work where she utilized her fierce strength to protect, defend and empower the defenseless. She was very outgoing, vibrant and ingenious. She will be missed. Kathy is survived by her father, Bill Albrecht of Hatch, Utah; children: Sarah Lynn Rawlings of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Heather Dawn and Ricardo Padilla, Chasty Hope Aguilar, all of Santa Fe; 2 grandchildren: Jordan Michael Neilsen and Te’Shara Lynn Smith, both of Santa Fe; siblings: Jeffrey Coy Albrecht, Justin Boyd and Anne Albrecht, Brandon Bill and Jessica Albrecht, all of Salt Lake City; Shane Allen and Lauren Albrecht of Kaysville; and Lisa and Todd Eggleston of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is preceded in death by her mother, Beverly Black Albrecht; and her grandparents: Boyd and Katherine Black, Verda and Leonard Albrecht. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Torrey LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Teasdale Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
