Duane R. Hunt

Teasdale, Utah - Duane Rulon Hunt, age 84 of Teasdale, Utah, peacefully passed away in his home March 22, 2020. Duane was born on May 25, 1935 in Torrey, Utah. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1954. He married his sweetheart, Georgia LuJean Moosman, January 31, 1988. Their Marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on February 20, 1999. Duane was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed serving as the camp host at Girls Camp for many years. He served in the US Army for 2 years in Fort Meade, Maryland. He did his basic training in Fort Carson, Colorado and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He served in the motor pool and delivered lunches to the soldiers who worked on the missile base. He served from the spring of 1958 to the spring of 1960. He liked serving his country even though he was very homesick. He served in the reserves for 4 years. Duane was employed by the Utah Department of Transportation. Being involved in community events was important to Duane. He was a member of the American Legion, played in a band and helped at the Senior Citizen luncheons by cooking and preparing the room. Duane served others by being a 4-H leader and helping out at the assisted living by playing bingo, playing his guitars, taking the patrons camping, and delivering cookies. Duane had many hobbies. He looked forward to winter so he could go trapping with his son, Ronnie. He was a member of the Utah Trappers Association and National Trappers Association. When Duane wasn’t working one could find him outdoors either hunting, timbering, camping, gardening, and going on trail rides. Many of his family and friends will remember the magic wallets he made that contained a $2.00 bill. One of the greatest joys of his life was dancing with his sweetheart. He is survived by his wife LuJean Hunt of Teasdale, his children: Jim (Pam) Sparks, Spanish Fork, UT; Ronnie (Jennifer) Hunt, Teasdale, UT; Valerie Sparks, Escalante, UT; Janice Clark, Lovell, WY; Jason (Taria) Hunt, Midvale, UT; Jason (Tara) Sparks, Ephraim, UT; Colette Hansen, Mt. Pleasant, UT. 28 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; Brother, Merrill (Debbie) Hunt; Sisters, Evelyn (Dale) Mckinney; Dorthy Turner; Bonnie Bandino; Lois (Emil) Brinkerhoff; Bessie Stewart; Sisters-in law, Rose Shepherd, Jeneal Moosman, Velma Moosman. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rulon and Martha Hunt; mother- and father-in-law, Guelda and LeRoy Moosman; Daughter, Debra Upchurch; Grandsons, Ben Chavis, Jesse Chavis, Stephen Cannistraci, Brandon Cannistraci; Sister, Inez White; Sister-in-law, Mary Madsen; Brothers-in-law, Deloy Stewart, Urban White, Frank Shepherd, Darwin Turner, Delroy “John” Moosman and Valdean Moosman. Private family viewing will be held March 28, 2020. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Teasdale Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
