Fremont/Salt Lake City, Utah - Elden Washington Pierce, age 67, of Salt Lake City, died July 13, 2006 in West Jordan of lung cancer. He was born March 31, 1939 in Fremont, Utah, a son of John Washington and Pearl Ivy Balle Pierce. Elden graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1957. He attended Weber State College in Ogden. Elden joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Elden was a member of the LDS Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Nephi Todd; the South Valley Health Center; the Veterans Hospital; his sister, Ruby Gates and his nephew, Vern H. Farmer. Elden is survived by his 7 sisters: Erma (Vern, deceased) Farmer of Pleasant Grove; Irene (J. Cecil, deceased) Fillmore of Burrville; Viva (Jay, deceased) Adams of Kaysville; Rose and Taft Shackleford of Sierra Vista, Arizona; Ruby (Phillo, deceased) Gates of Kearns; Fern and Roy Mallory of Richfield; Nellie and Harry Bristol of Riverside, California; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Verl Pierce and 2 nephews. Grave side services will be held Monday, July 17, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. in the Fremont Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Monday morning from 12 Noon to 1:00 P.M. prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Fremont Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
