Eldon R Taylor, age 98, peacefully left for his home in eternity at 12:30 on February 2, 2020, at his home in Mapleton, Utah surrounded by family. He was born in Loa, Utah to Hyrum Leonard and Cora Ann Rees Taylor on August 7, 1921. He graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1940. He served his country during World War II in the United States Air Force, where he was a fighter pilot. He married Dawn Allen on 14 August 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 7 children. Eldon taught Seminary and Institute for over 35 years. He received his PHD from BYU. He was a Temple Worker for many years and served in many callings in the church. He is survived by his children: ElRoy and Gloria Taylor of Idaho; LaRon Taylor of Eagle Ridge; Brent and Susan Taylor of Sandy; Shirla and Kenneth Snow of St. George; Bernell and RaNae Taylor, and Raelene Tedesco, all of Mapleton; 28 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Denzil Taylor and Lois Bird; his wife Dawn; a son LaCal; daughter-in-law Patricia; and a granddaughter Brenda. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mapleton 5th LDS Ward Chapel, 825 East Hawk Rest Drive in Mapleton, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services. Graveside services with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be Saturday afternoon at 4:00 P.M. in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
