Elsie Chappell Bagley

December 29, 1928 — February 16, 2009

Greenwich, Utah - Our kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Elsie Laverda Chappell Bagley, age 80, died February 16, 2009 at her home in Greenwich. She was born December 29, 1928 in Lyman, Utah, a daughter of Alvin Sperry and Lydia Okerlund Chappell. She graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1947. She attended Snow College in Ephraim. Elsie married Rolland McKay Bagley, October 6, 1950 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple September 28, 1957. Elsie was very active in the LDS Church, serving as Relief Society Secretary; President of the Young Women; in the Primary Presidency; Primary Teacher; Sunday School Secretary; and Visiting Teacher, but her favorite calling was the in “Singing Mothers.” The high light of her church service was her calling, along with her husband, as Temple Workers in the Chicago Illinois LDS Temple and working in the Manti Temple from 1996 to 2005. Elsie worked at the Post Office in Greenwich and Koosharem; cooked at Koos Camp and the Elementary School in Koosharem; and was a school bus driver. She enjoyed making quilts for her children and grandchildren; cooking for her family; crocheting and sewing. She enjoyed driving in the mountains and looking at the autumn leaves. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Wayne County Home Health, for their kindness, care and love they extended to Elsie during her last months. Elsie is survived by her husband of Greenwich; children: Jessie and Kay Barton of Bullfrog; Grant and Sue Bagley of Cedar City; Rex and Torri Bagley of Sigurd; Gale and Amy Bagley of Tabiona; Steve and Loretta Bagley of Huntington; Charlene and Bob Dansie of West Jordan; Brent and Kaylynn Bagley of Greenwich; Kent and Myrnadeen Bagley of Sevier; 34 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister: Rulon and Sharon Chappell of St. Paul, Minnesota; Seth and Ardeen Chappell of Lyman; Kathleen and Craig Larsen of Orem. She was preceded in death by a brother, Eldon Todd Chappell and a sister, Helen C. Taylor. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 12 Noon in the Koosharem LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Koosharem Saturday morning from 10:30 to11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Koosharem Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
